Inauguration for imaging and digital media
 

Djemel Ziou, director of the CoRIMedia project, and François Deschênes, researcher for the consortium, were present with the rector of the University of Sherbrooke and the dean of the Faculty of Sciences during the inauguration of the new premises of the MOIVRE (Modélisation en imagerie, vision et réseaux de neurones) and of the bachelor's program in imaging and digital media, offered since September 2004. On this occasion, the speakers emphasized the promising results of CoRIMedia's research. Canadian Heritage funds CoRIMedia for a second year
 

The Department of Canadian Heritage is again supporting CoRIMedia by funding its project "Research network for the management of digital cultural content". In fact, a grant of $750,000 is to be given for 2004-2005 period to allow CoRIMedia to continue its research on new media.

Breakthrough in imaging
 

An article published in the newspaper La Presse on November 10, 2004, deals with CoRIMedia's progress in the area of content-based information retrieval.


Report on imaging and digital media
 

The Faculty of Sciences of the University of Sherbroke, in collaboration with CoRIMedia, the MOIVRE and the Carrefour de l'information, presented the exhibition "Au-delà de l'image" to introduce the new bachelor's program in imaging and digital media, offered since September 2004. The exhibition was presented at the Carrefour de l'information from October 23 to November 2, 2004. International Workshop on Image, Video and Audio Retrieval and Mining
 

CoRIMedia and the University of Sherbrooke organized an international conference that took place on October 25 and 26, 2004. The forum brought together many researchers from various fields such as user modeling, indexing and image, audio and video retrieval. CoRIMedia finalist at the OCTAS 2004 competition
 

Djemel Ziou's team went to the grand finals in the category: "Technological innovation, 201 employees or more" at the OCTAS competition. The team presented their search engine for content-based image retrieval. More details are given on the Web site of the Fédération Informatique du Québec.


$1.2 million for a multimedia data processing project at UQO
  Funding of $1.2 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), the Ministère du Développement économique et régional et de la Recherche du Québec, Canada Economic Development and the Société de diversification économique de l'Outaouais (SDEO) was announced on March 17, 2004. This funding will be used to acquire the necessary infrastructure for projects being conducted by researchers at the University, of whom eight are members of CoRIMedia. CoRIMedia workshop: October 16-17, 2003
  CoRIMedia will organize a workshop on October 16-17 at the Longueil Campus of the University of Sherbrooke. October 16 will be the day for presentations of research results.

A picture is worth a thousand words

  A news release was published on March 25, 2003 by the University of Sherbrooke about software developed for Internet image retrieval by researchers at the university.
